A lot goes behind saving the soul.
Masks are worn and altered and changed;
But never does the soul expose
Itself, to anyone but the wearer.
This world of love and of faith,
and lies that bite and deceit that breaks,
and games we play to win the battles
groom our masks with each day.
Some are dark as the night,
And some shine to spread the light,
And some shimmer to completely block
Every detail of the soul they hide.
Then there are those that are simple,
Where others are strained
With a spillage of colors
One for each secret they conceal.
But I don't judge and I don't mind
Why you wear or what made you hide.
For Masks are windows to houses that survive
And endure both pain and delight.
So wear you must and make you a hundred
Or maybe more, one for each occasion.
You maybe as sick as the secrets you have,
but then that's for you to decide.
But I feel if we would just
Drop our masks and come in light,
And see each other for who we are,
We may find that we're all alike.
Then again, what do I know
So many that I have of my own
Neatly laid out in my mind,
One for each occasion.
To get the facade right.
If we drop our masks, we may find that we are all alike. I totally agree. :)
ReplyDeleteI love this poem.
Thanks Vrinda! :)
DeleteBut I feel this poem is still a little raw. Do you feel it could have been better at any point?
Behatreen..especially the stanza pointed out by your friend vrinda!!
ReplyDeleteHaha.. Thanks bhaiya! :)
DeleteSuperb yaar. N let it be a bit raw. That gives a touch of connection n reality. Of all the writings poetry is the best way of expression.
ReplyDeleteThanks Neo! Making a impact is all that matters.
DeleteAnd I completely agree with you. Nothing can be as subtle and yet as effective as poetry!
