Why relying only on GPS in India is a bad idea!

We had to attend a birthday party yesterday for which we had to travel from Gurgaon to Civil Lines. My awesome brother decided to go the American way to reach the spot. And guess what? We got stuck. And that too in the middle of a traffic jam of bullock carts, rickshaws and thelas in Old Delhi!

Then what, for the party starting at 4:00 pm, at 6:00 pm we were still not even close to where we had to reach. So after being on the road for more than 2.5 hours we still never made it to the party!

I personally believe that a user should get more out of GPS than just routes and ways. An estimation of the traffic density besides alternate routes to reach the spot should also be made available so that we get to make a choice as to which is the best way to be taken by us.

Have you ever been faced with such a problem? And if even you haven't, what are your views on my suggestions?
